Online training – Case study 2: Lethargic backyard chooks

On arrival at the vet clinic

Donna speaks with Dave who explains that he now has two dead chickens and two chickens that look like they are dying. A few of the others also looked a bit under the weather this morning. They have diarrhoea, are collapsed and are not breathing right. He brought both the sick chickens for the vet to look at, as well as the dead ones, just in case.

As you examine one of the live chickens it produces watery green diarrhoea over the consult table.

You notice the other sick chicken has cyanotic combs and discolouration to the legs in addition to diarrhoea and respiratory distress.
