On suspicion of an EAD

You make the call to the EAD Hotline

The veterinarian you speak with asks you to submit the two dead birds and one of the currently live ones (if Dave is happy for it to be euthanized) for sampling. The hotline vet connects you to the lab, who advises you on specific PPE and packaging requirements. Refer to the Equine Case Study in this course, or the Blue Book for more detail on PPE in EAD workups.

Dave agrees to euthanase one of the live birds. Using advised PPE and packaging, you submit three birds to the state laboratory.
