You are working in a busy general mixed practice in the Maitland area, NSW, where your case load is approximately 50% small animal, 30% equine and 20% smallholder livestock. It is a five-person practice.

It is a Thursday lunchtime in April and one of the nurses asks you to return a call that she has just received from a worried client. The client has used your clinic for years for routine procedures. The only thing that the nurse can tell you is that it is about a horse that is wobbly and not itself.

You phone the client back as soon as you get a chance.
